PM e Corpo de Bombeiros salvaram, em média, 2 bebês engasgados por dia em 2023
O trabalho realizado pelas equipes da Polícia Militar e do Corpo de Bombeiros de São Paulo atendeu 760 ocorrências de desengasgos de bebês ao longo de 2023, por meio do atendimento emergencial dos números 190 e 193. A rapidez e a eficiência do serviço contribuíram para salvar, em média, a vida de duas crianças por dia no estado.
A filha da empresária Karina Mello passou por um susto há três anos. Com apenas um mês de vida, Mirella estava no berço quando se engasgou com o leite materno. A mãe ligou para os Bombeiros, no 193, para pedir socorro.
Em poucos minutos, com as orientações do operador, foi possível desengasgar a criança. “Eu estava desesperada”, revelou Karina. “Enquanto recebia a orientação por telefone, minha mãe realizava as manobras na bebê até que ela desengasgou.” Mesmo com o salvamento, uma viatura foi despachada para o endereço e a criança socorrida ao hospital. Mirella fez exames médicos e foi liberada.
Os mesmos policiais que foram até o hospital estavam em patrulhamento dias depois na região do Jabaquara, onde Karina mora com a filha. A mãe reconheceu os agentes e fez questão de agradecer novamente a atenção e o carinho que tiveram com elas.
O Centro de Operações da Polícia Militar (Copom) e o Centro de Operações do Corpo de Bombeiros (Cobom) receberam nos últimos dois anos 1,5 mil chamados para ocorrências de desengasgos de bebês. “A calma, a técnica e o jeito que o operador me orientou foram fundamentais para a minha filha voltar a respirar”, observou a empresária.
Treinamento
Os operadores do Copom e do Cobom recebem treinamento contínuo para melhorar o atendimento de emergência. Durante um curso de seis semanas, são ensinadas técnicas básicas e avançadas para auxiliar as vítimas por telefone em casos de engasgos, abrangendo desde recém-nascidos até adultos.
O comandante do Copom, coronel Carlos Henrique Lucena, exaltou o trabalho realizado pelos policiais na unidade. “É um tempo de resposta curto, por isso, a capacitação é essencial para o atendimento. A técnica, aliada à tranquilidade, é crucial para salvar vidas”, ressaltou.
Além dos atendimentos rotineiros e de salvamento, os PMs são preparados para casos de parada cardiorrespiratória, hemorragia e até vazamento de gás.
Atendimento presencial
Existem ocorrências em que o salvamento de bebês acontece no próprio Batalhão da Polícia Militar. Em novembro de 2023, Gabriel, de dois anos, teve uma convulsão e se engasgou com a saliva. A mãe dele, Carolina de Souza, estava sozinha em casa, no Grajaú, na zona sul de São Paulo. Ela pegou a criança para levá-la ao hospital.
No caminho, um comerciante viu o desespero da mãe. Ele pegou o menino e levou até a 5ª Companhia do 27º Batalhão de Polícia Militar Metropolitano (BPM/M), que fica na região. Em menos de 3 minutos, Gabriel já tinha voltado a respirar.
“A polícia agiu com extrema rapidez; são verdadeiros anjos em nossas vidas”, relatou a mãe. Após o incidente, o menino foi levado por uma viatura até o hospital para realizar exames, onde permaneceu internado por seis dias em observação. “Depois foram visitar a gente no hospital”, contou Carolina.
O soldado Gabriel Nogueira Gonzalez, que trabalha há dois anos na área de atendimento do 27º BPM/M, realizou a manobra de desengasgo em Gabriel. O policial disse que já havia feito outros atendimentos parecidos no batalhão. “O importante é manter a calma e colocar em prática o treinamento”, destacou.
Como desengasgar um bebê?
É importante estar preparado para realizar os primeiros socorros em caso de engasgamento. Quando não é possível pedir ajuda a um profissional ou aguardar pela chegada do socorro, é necessário manter a calma para realizar os procedimentos corretos.
O capitão Raphael Fernandes Brito, que está há dez anos no Corpo de Bombeiros, deu algumas dicas sobre o que fazer quando perceber que um bebê está engasgado.
1 – Coloque a criança no seu antebraço com o tórax para baixo e fique com a mão segurando seu queixo. Depois estenda o pescoço do bebê para tentar desobstruir as vias aéreas.
2 – Com a cabeça virada para baixo, dê cinco tapas nas costas do bebê fazendo um movimento para baixo e para frente. “Não tenha medo de machucá-lo nesse momento porque o tapa precisa ser firme para retirar o objeto ou fluido”, explicou.
3 – Após realizar os tapas, vire a criança e observe se o que causava o engasgo foi expelido. Com os dedos, faça o movimento de pinça, e tente desobstruir as vias aéreas com cuidado para não empurrar o objeto ou fluido ainda mais para o fundo da garganta.
4 – Se a criança ainda não estiver respirando, coloque dois dedos entre seus mamilos e faça cinco compressões.
5 – Se a criança não voltar a respirar, repita os passos.
O ideal é estar com mais uma pessoa para realizar o procedimento. Enquanto uma liga para o 190 ou 193, a outra realiza as manobras de desengasgo. Se estiver sozinho, é importante começar a fazer os primeiros socorros antes de ligar para o Copom ou o Cobom. “Todo segundo é precioso”, disse Raphael.
